TERM PAPER REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENTS The term paper should consist of a review and critique of 5 articles RELATED to the topic areas of macroeconomics covered in this class. You will choose these articles from the Federal Reserve publications of the 12 different Federal Reserve District Banks listed below (over the period 2004-2010) The 5 articles should be on a single topic area. Begin searching the table of contents of the publication in 2010 and work backwards towards 2004. In some cases you may go back earlier than 2004 but you need to provide the instructor with an explanation for why this is necessary. It is always best to get the most recent article on a topic. The paper that you write should synthesize the 5 articles into one Paper. I do not want a separate review for each article. Do not select a topic area that is very broad. Your topic needs to be focused. For example, you cannot do an article on theories of New Keynesian economics. However, you could write a paper comparing and contrasting 2 or 3 of the theories of the New Keynesian Model. Please do not pick this topic because I put it here as an example, thus, it is not something you can do. I want you to integrate the papers together into a discussion. The paper should also describe where these articles fit into the historical setting of the macroeconomic topic, which they cover and explain how these papers made an important contribution to their particular area of macroeconomics. The paper should be written in Times Roman 12 point font and be no less than 10 single spaced pages long (NOT INCLUDING FIGURES, TABLES OR REFERENCES WHICH SHOULD BE PLACED AT THE END OF THE PAPER). All papers must be written well (e.g. sub-sections, footnotes, references, etc.) and have proper citation of references in a bibliography. NOTE: If you cite an article in your paper that is not one of the 5 articles that you are reviewing you must put a reference in the bibliography for that article. For example, suppose your article is written by John Smith and this article cites an article in their references by Joe Smart that you are drawing material from. In this case, you must put the reference of the article by Joe Smart in your bibliography as well as the one by John Smith. Be very careful not to plagiarize. DO NOT COPY MATERIAL DIRECTLY FROM AN ARTICLE. Term project papers for all students are due at the beginning of class Saturday, November 20, 2010.
