Assignment Brief – Energy Drink
You work for a creative agency and you have been approached by a new client to design both a visual advert and a text based advert for an exciting new brand of energy drink.
The product can be of your choice but you need to consider product specifications and benefits when designing your advert to ensure you are accentuating at least one USP.
Explore before you start – research the market, look at the competitor products currently available, their USPs and how these are communicated visually and textually within their advertising. Think about the target market and what would appeal to them.
The core customer base is male or female and is aged between 18 and 25, they enjoy a fast paced lifestyle both at work and at play. Their choice of energy drink appeals to their sense of adventure and individuality. Exercise is a key part of their lives, both to keep fit but more importantly to socialise with like minded people.
You may use your own brand or an existing brand that has developed an energy drink for the first time, you should consider previous advertising campaigns if you adopt the latter option.
You must produce a visual only advert for your energy drink. Remember that a visual image must be attractive and interesting to sustain the viewer long enough to absorb the intended message, it must not contain any words except the brand logo.
You must also produce one text only advert for your energy drink. This should communicate your USP and the key benefits to the target market.
Apart from a brand logo you must not use any other image in the advert. However, you may use word art or other methods of manipulating the text.
You must produce a report (1000-1500 words) that explains the creative development process and rationale for the construction of your adverts for
Task 1 and 2.
