There is no set reading for this module you need to decide what to read and use and you must make use of the resources to which you have access. These include the university library, the web, other modules, other people, and any other sources of information that you can (legally) lay your hands on. We will give you hints and tips in class and on line.
? Personal Reflection – 30%
This will take the form of a reflexive diary which involves you thinking about the competencies and skills that you have developed during this module. You will be able to use this diary in the semester 2 module professional development.
The diary should not be more than 1500 words, structured around 5 of the 10 core competencies the module has been designed to address. You must choose which competencies you feel you have MOST developed through the module. Details will be provided on MOLE.
The submission date is Tuesday January 17th 2012
? Three weekly web-based project reports 20%
These must include a log of:
1. The groups activities over the three week period.
2. A log of any meetings or on-line activities that were conducted outside of class contact time
3. An evaluation of how well the group has worked together and how any problems were experienced and dealt with.
4. A review of any literature or material that was used by the group in their activities with references provided.
5. Feedback will be provided on each report within 2 weeks and an overall mark allocated at the end of the module.
For this aspect of the assignment we want you to reflect on your own personal experience of undertaking the module. We want you to focus less upon the actual outcome that your group achieved in your respective challenge, and more upon the way in which working on your challenge has impacted upon your skills and abilities. What has the module contributed to your learning and development? How did you feel that you performed during the module? Could you have improved your contribution? Have you learnt anything for future group work exercises? Remember, academic learning across your university degree is not always about just the subjects that you were taught in a module but also about the processes of learning that you engaged in and the broader skills that you develop as an individual.
To help you with this personal reflection, we are going to focus your writing upon key competencies, which you can find listed and described in the link Competencies in this folder on MOLE2. We want you to select five of the key competencies in that list, and focus your personal reflection around these. Obviously different challenges will have focused upon different aspects of these skills, so you should choose the competencies most relevant to the challenge you undertook.
As well as discussing these competencies we want you to also reflect on the module as a whole. What did you think to this form of teaching and activity? How would you improve the module for future years? What did you think were the best and worst aspects of working and studying in this way?
Your personal reflection should be approximately 1500 words long and should be submitted by Tuesday January 19th 2012 to the undergraduate enquiry office on the ground floor of the management building. A copy should also be uploaded to turnitin by midnight of that date.
