The purpose of this assessment piece is to provide you with practical experience in presenting psychological research in a poster format. Poster sessions at academic conferences allow researchers to share succinct versions of their recent, unpublished studies with other conference attendees.
Obviously, for the purposes of this course, you are not expected to undertake your own research. Instead, you will need to report on the results of 2 recently published papers. You will collaborate in small groups to create a poster which you will present in our own class conference held in tutorials 7 & 8 (9 January 2012).
Each group may choose their own topic for the poster; however it must be related to an adolescent/adult development topic and must include an applied focus (i.e., implications for practice). Example topics are provided below along with detailed marking criteria.
There are three parts to this assignment:
1. 2 research papers on the same topic should be selected, researched and presented in a poster format in small groups of 4-6 students
2. Each individual in the group will present a section of the poster orally to the class
3. Each individual in the group will submit an independently written summary of the poster topic
You will be marked in the following way:
• Group poster presentation mark (10%)
• Individual oral presentation mark (5%)
• Individual written summary mark (10%)
